Monkey Bread. If you have never had this ultra tasty treat before, here are a few keywords to descibe this evil addiction of mine:
addicting
sweet crunchy edges
caramel-y
cinnamon-y
lil’ bit of heaven
These are only a few of many I could probably use to describe these little heavenly buns. It’s like a cinnamon roll you can take a part piece by piece and there is nothing in this world quite like it. Just remember – you’ve been warned. I’m not going to lie that you can eat the entire thing without even blinking an eye.
I decided that because I can eat an entire recipe when I make it using a bundt pan, that I needed to make them in individual portions so that I can ‘somewhat’ control myself. So I used the jumbo muffin tins. It makes 6. Just to make it extra evil I drizzled some icing over the top. They totally don’t need it. They are amazing on their own. Trust me.
Monkey Bread Muffin Cups
makes 6 jumbo muffins
2 tubes of biscuit dough (I like pillsbury) (20 biscuits in total)
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
6 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
Spray your muffin tin with non-stick spray. Cut each biscuit into 4ths. So in total you should have 80 little pieces of dough. In a bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon. Dip each piece of dough into the cinnamon-sugar mixture until totally covered. Divide evenly between the 6 cups. (about 13-14 in each cup) In a saucepan boil the butter and brown sugar. Spoon about a tablespoon of the brown sugar/butter mixture over each muffin cup. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 20-25 minutes or until baked through. Best when hot and fresh out of the oven!
Enjoy!

Wow those look so pretty! Great recipe.
oh lord..I just might it all of them.
these look incredibly delicious!
I saw this around the blog world a couple weeks ago and have dreaming about them ever since. Your gorgeous photo isn’t helping my self-control! I must make these… and soon!
Hi, just wanted you to know that I tryed these in my camp trailer oven and they turned out so good and everyone in camp was delighted and thought I was the cat’s meow. Thanks again for the recipe, will do it again this year.
Wow! Will try this next weekend for breakfast. I like that you can a smaller batch without using a bundt pan, which makes too much for 3 people. Thanks Stephanie for making something so yummy and so easy too!
Oh monkey bread in muffin cups…why have I never thought of this before?! One of my bf’s favs, so I’ll definitely have to try this.
Can’t wait to try these! They look SO yummy!!!!
These look divine! They are going on my “to bake” list.
Boy oh boy! Do these look good or what!?! They are so cute!
These look really good I’m going to try them….but I was wondering what you use for your icing recipe
i think this would be fun to do with my nieces and have a tea party cause they are good Thanks for sharing the recipe
We make these – especially at Christmas with Rhodes Frozen Bread dough, sugar, butter, cinnamon and sweetened condensed milk. They are INSANELY good. Any chance you want to feature that recipe as well. They are so easy, you can prep ahead and pop them in to bake and they make fabulous neighbor and distant family gifts for the holidays!
I’m having guests stay over next week and these would be excellent to serve with breakfast! Couldn’t be easier!
I am making these for Easter morning! Done! Also, I am curious as to what kind of frosting you dribbled over the top?
OMG thanks for sharing this I’m not a big baker and this was soo AWSOME to be my first experience !! I was so hungry that I cooked the biscuits with out thinking so I just cut them in fours when they where done cooking and had made the sugars , butters ,cinnamon mix as they stated above and poured / rolled the biscuits with the cinnamon mix MY KIDS LOVED IT !!thanks again!
My mom used to make something similar using the biscuit dough and cinnamon/sugar, but she didn’t cut them up. That makes them look so fun! And I’m sure they taste just as yummy.
We love making these!
Hi Stephanie, I just awarded you the Sunshine Award over at minutestospare.blogspot.com
le drool. somehow, i have made it 32.5 years without ever having eaten monkey bread, and i think that is a grave mistake on my part.
Love your blog! You have do-able recipes! I hate recipes that call for lots of ingredients or ingredients that I have no clue what they are or where to get them! I plan to check your blog often! I also want to share mine with you. I am just starting out and could use some followers! I share family, recipes, and craft ideas on mine! Thanks and I am looking forward to posting this blog on my own blog! It is http://www.thepinkpumpkin.blogspot.com!
Oh, my! I’ve been wracking my brain about what to take for C’mas at my niece’s. There’s a bit of travel involved and I can take them unbaked and tease everyone with the smell. Will this work in regular size muffin tins? I’m going to try to incorporate sweetened condensed milk (thanks, Aaron) because I may just be addicted to it. 8-}
