Blue Lemon Review

I was lucky enough to get a special invite to a blogger event that I could not turn down.  Vanessa from I Never Grew Up got an awesome group of Utah bloggers together to review the new downtown SLC, City Creek Blue Lemon Restaurant.  One word describes this night and that word is “Yum”.  That is really all that needs to be said.  The food is absolutely indescribable.  The atmosphere is cool, hip and chic.  The view is amazing.  You can’t go wrong with anything you order from their delicious menu.  And you would be crazy to skip on dessert.  I ordered the Blue Lemon Steak Griller.  I can honestly say it was the best steak I have ever eaten, and believe me when I say that I have eaten a lot of steak!  So all of you locals,  grab a date, bring a friend or even bring your kids to this amazing restaurant and you will not be sorry!

My delicious steak…yum

Some of the fabulous desserts they let us sample.  Double Yum!

The lovely ladies of the night

And because The Blue Lemon is such a fantastic establishment, they have given me a coupon to give to you, my lovely readers, to use at their downtown Salt Lake, City Creek location.  You can’t beat 50% off, so take advantage of this offer good until this Saturday.  Let me know what you think!

Thank you Blue Lemon for an amazingly delicious night!  And thank you fabulous ladies for all the laughs.  You are all incredible women!

Monday Maven

I had a blast on Studio 5 once again! This was my 4th time doing a segment and I love it more and more each time I do it. It is such an amazing feeling when you are in that room with all the lights and cameras, and then before you know it they say its your turn and the camera is on you and they start counting down until its action time. Wow, what a rush! I honestly thought the first time I went on that I would be that person that freezes in fear when the camera started rolling, and everyone around me would be yelling my name trying to get me out of my zone. But I have surprised myself by how much I love it and how comfortable I feel there. Love it! Thanks for tuning in and now I can’t wait for March 1st!

And now on to something really great! Vanessa from I never grew up (amazing blog by the way) contacted me not long ago and asked if she could feature me on as one of her Monday Mavens. I felt so honored and said of course! So if you want to know more about me, check it out here! Thanks so much Vanessa!

I hope you guys have a great week and hopefully I’ll be back soon with some awesome recipes to share!

xoxo,

Steph

Meet our newest Chef…

Meet baby Maddison. 9 LONG months of baking has brought us this little angel and I wouldn’t trade her for anything. At 4 days old she let me sleep 4 hours in a row and hasn’t stopped since. She is perfect in every way and I am so glad to finally have her here. Thank you for being so patient with me and my lack of posting. Hopefully once she is letting me sleep all through the night and I can learn to juggle 3 rowdy kids, I will be able to post more often, but for now, I appreciate your loyalty!

Cinnamon Chocolate Apples and a Meme

I have been using the Ziplock Zip and Steam bags for quite a while now, and I must say that I buy a lot more fresh vegetable since using them. They take no time at all in the microwave and add some butter and salt before cooking and they turn out perfect and flavorful! And the very best part is NO CLEAN UP! Yes, that is pure heaven to me. After I bought them last, I turned through the recipes that were inside the package and found a recipe for these Cinnamon Chocolate Apples and I had to have them right then and there. These are soooooo good! I can’t even explain. Cut up some apples, add some chocolate and spices and in 3 minutes you have soft, tasty apples. How can that not be the best thing ever? You must try them! Make sure you drizzle some melted milk chocolate after they have cooked, and it just puts the cherry on top! This recipe easily serves 4 people, so make sure you half the recipe if you are not wanting to eat 4 whole apples!  Kids will eat this up like it’s candy!  My daughter fell in love and asks for these apples all of the time now!

Chocolate Cinnamon Apples

Using a Ziplock Zip and Steam bag, Combine in Medium or Large bag:
3 ounces milk chocolate, coarsely chopped
1/4 cup raisins
4 teaspoons slivered almonds
1 tablespoons sugar
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons heavy cream
4 medium Granny Smith Apples (I used Gala and Granny Smith) cored and sliced into 1/2 inch wedges (peel if you prefer)

1. Seal Ziploc Zip ‘n Steam bag and shake to mix ingredients Place bag in microwave.
2. Cook on full power 2-3 minutes or until apples have softened. (I did 3 1/2 minutes, I like them really soft)
3. Allow bag to stand 1 minute before handling. Gently shake and squeeze bag to combine the melted chocolate and warm cream to smooth sauce.
4. Open bag and allow to cool slightly before serving.
5. Drizzle with additionally melted chocolate, if desired.

And now for a Meme!

I have been tagged twice now for a meme, once from Megan from Megan’s Cookin and Bunny from Bunny’s Warm Oven. And though I don’t usually do these, I think it’s quite fun to learn more about the person behind the blog, so I decided to go for it!
The Rules:
Each participant answers questions about her/himself.  At the end of the post the participant tags 5 people.  Their names are posted letting them know they’ve been tagged.  They then have to read the participant’s blog.  The tagged let’s the tagger know when he/she’s posted his answers.  Here we go!

Welcome to Stephanies Kitchen!

I just recently found out about the food blog world. Until a few days ago, I was completely clueless. I had no idea that such a thing even existed, or how big it actually was..I just came across a blog from a friend’s blog and…whalah…there it was. I was in food heaven if there is such a thing. And I thought to myself, gees Steph, why don’t you sneak your way in…you love to cook, right? Even if no one ever reads it, it would be a great way to record my passion of cooking, baking, creating….so yes, I am very excited about this new blog. I hope that if anyone out there actually reads it, that you thoroughly enjoy every second!
